One of the better kept secrets for Tweenster is that Bakaboo has several outfits for boys. Although Bakaboo does a lot of marketing for their brand, and tweenster has been made a part of this marketing, I have yet to see a single kid in-world wearing their clothing. There were a few posts on Flickr of boys wearing their clothes and few bloggers, but the average kid on the grid doesn’t know what Bakaboo is.
I have been thinking about why this is. The designs are great. The meshes they use are really popular right now. They do fashion shows. They have a really cool store. But they don’t market to kids.
First of all, most kids on Second Life start shopping on the marketplace. None of the tweenster clothing is on the MP. The few outfits from Bakaboo for tweenster don’t show up on searches, so most kids will never become aware of the brand. I know that creators rather people buy their stuff in-world, but the MP also helps a lot with brand recognition.
Secondly, to my knowledge and I could be wrong, but Bakaboo does not have a vendor or store on a kids’ sim. There are a number of ways to get a free vendor at popular spots, such as Tweenster Fair in front of the Meshmerized main store or All the Little Things in front of NGI Adoption Agency. They would probably be welcomed with open arms would get more kids showing up at their main store. Second Life kids, like RL kids, need to see things in front of their faces.
Well, I would encourage tweensters to go to the Bakaboo Main Store and check out their stuff. There are four or five outfits sized for tweenster mixed in among the adult stuff. It’s not easy to find, they’re worth the effort!
I put two looks together inspired by the novel and Amazon show Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.
